Is the IgG ELISA Food Intolerance Test covered by insurance? Print

Many insurance companies reimburse for food intolerance test, but you should check with your insurance carrier before testing if you are uncertain. Various factors determine whether or not an insurance company will issue a reimbursement:

  • The insurance company itself
  • The policy and the services it covers
  • The group plan of the policy
  • Whether or not the annual deductible has been met.

U.S. insurance carriers require that any laboratory performing tests on American citizens must be CLIA certified.  Because AllergySmarts is a Canadian laboratory, it does not currently carry CLIA certification.  Therefore, it is unlikely that a U.S. insurance company will reimburse you for the cost of the test.
