Is there any special preparation before doing the test? Print

You should eat as many of the listed foods as possible in the week or so before you collect your blood sample.  Because the Allergysmarts test measures immune reactions to food, it is necessary for the body to have had exposure to that food in order to mount an immune response.  However do not eat any foods that you have previously had a serious negative reaction to.  For example, if you have a serious allergy to peanuts, you must not eat any peanuts.   Any foods that you have not eaten in a long time (several weeks or more) will show up as no or little reaction on your report.  If you have had a serious reaction to a specific food before and the food intolerance test shows no reaction, this does not mean it is safe for you to consume that food again.  It only means that your body has not been exposed to that food allergen for a long time.
